Any chance not to store password in XML, but use pop-up ?

What do you mean by "using pop-up"? I'm not sure I understand well ...

Sorry for being incorrect. I mean, is there possibility to configure web part to ask password every time instead storing it in XML ?

I would like an answer to this as well. Placing a users password in xml that is easily readable by anyone who can open the web part in edit mode won't fly. If we leave this empty will it prompt the user for the password?

I agree this is not the best solution, but at least, these infos can't be exported and the webpart can't be edited in personal mode.
A better solution would be to use the new SharePoint 2010 secure store, but I've currently no time to invest in this heavy development.
Still, one small feature I can add is the ability to use the current user credentials and show the edit form only if he has the correct permissions to edit AD profiles.
What do you think?

This would be great, I hope you can add this feature quickly!
